Wow ... but it ain't over yet
Whale of a win for Geneva. Coach Sly means this as much as any of the other 20-some times in a row the Vikings have posted a regular season W the past 2 and a half years.
But this conference title ain't in the bag yet, guys.
Coming back at Glenbard South took poise and moxie, but it ain't going to be easy to win at Kaneland either. The Knights are right in the championship mix after a win at Sycamore that might not be as glamourous as beating Glenbard South but could turn out every bit as crucial. Kaneland has O, Kaneland has D. Kaneland is for real.
Give it up for the Saints ... Sly's upset special came through vs. the Storm. Another huge win for the Tri-Cities tonight! This could be the W that steers East on a playoff path.
North losing to Waubonsie ain't a stunner, but falling behind in the game 28-7 kinda is. Sly sees it as nothing more than a typical wakeup call for a very good football team. Getting Huxtable back to full speed, when and if that ever happens, will be big for those guys.
Sly hates to leave a proud program like Batavia for dead but let's just say a swarm of buzzards was spotted following Batavia's bus back home. Looking like the year that Batavia's playoff string goes haywire.
Back to Geneva. How do you think the folks in Glen Ellyn feel after this one? If you can't beat Geneva on your home field, with a second half lead, with the Vikings missing probably their top defensive player ... well, might as well find yourself a new conference. And they shall.
Sly also wants to give Marmion some kudos for taking down St. Francis and Marian Central back to back weeks. Anyone who knows anything about hs football knows those are two Ws to hang your hat on.
Fun week! Can't believe we're hitting the halfway point already.
