5th annual Health Strong Woman Event
CRYSTAL LAKE – Centegra Health System will host the 5th annual Health Strong Woman Event Thursday, Feb. 24 as a reminder to women of McHenry County to take care of their own health and wellness. It will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Crystal Lake. Admission is $10. The event will provide a healthy lunch and free health screenings, which include blood pressure, bone health and diabetes. Also offered are Diabetes Aware and Heart Aware online risk assessments. Guests will receive a special gift upon arrival as well as have the opportunity to win a raffle prize. Dalzell and Company Jewelers and Algonquin Commons have donated the special gift and many of the raffle prizes. During the Health Strong Woman Event, guests will meet three of Centegra’s own specialty physicians who will share their knowledge on how to be a healthy woman. They will discuss menopause, breast and heart health issues that are prevalent today. This year, Centegra hosts Joan Steffend, author of the recently-published book, “…And She Sparkled.” Steffend plans to read excerpts from her book to the audience, discuss how it generally relates to every woman and follow that with a question and answer session. Her book will be for sale at the event and Steffend will be signing copies of it for guests. Women may stop by during their lunch break or stay for a day of free health screenings and presentations to learn more about being a Health Strong Woman. It is encouraged that they bring a friend to share in this entertaining day of knowledge and female camaraderie. The first 300 to pre-register will receive a health handbook that includes helpful information on a variety of health topics.
