Cancer and the Law
Cancer and the Law, Tuesday, March 15 from 6:30 – 8 pm. Facilitator: Monica Fawzy, Esq. A cancer diagnosis may include a variety of legal issues related to insurance coverage, employment and taking time off work, access to health care and government benefits, and estate planning. These legal issues can cause worry, confusion, and stress and can be overwhelming. This seminar discusses the most common illness-related legal issues including: health insurance options; insurance navigation; employment rights and reasonable accommodations in the workplace; taking time off work; and access to disability insurance and government benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). Wellness Place, cancer education and support in Palatine, IL will present featured programs for March, open to the community and at no charge. Registration is required by calling (847) 221-2400. Wellness Place, cancer education and support is a community based cancer resource center in Palatine, IL, serving those diagnosed with cancer and their family, friends and caregivers. Services and programs are delivered by professionals at no cost to participants. They provide critical, life-enhancing support and guidance as people learn to manage emotional and physical responses, sort through treatment options and side effects, formulate questions for doctors and communicate matters to others.
