ST. CHARLES – First-graders from Lisa McMorris and Marti McCloud’s class at Lincoln School in St. Charles visited residents of Delnor Glen Senior Living Center in St. Charles as part of the school’s “Make a Difference” theme.
Here I am, still at Pine View. Thanks to the Super Staff, things are going well. Lots of strawberries, good cheer and smiling faces!
BATAVIA – As another school year draws to a close, high school students across the Fox Valley area participated in a longstanding tradition: prom. 
GENEVA – Wen Marcec, a resident of Geneva and an employee of Geneva School District 304, was honored at the Make A Difference Day Awards ceremony honoring America’s top volunteers from the nation’s largest day of doing good. The event was held April 25 in Washington, D.C.
It is with the taste of a whole bowlful of fresh strawberries still on my lips that I greet you from Pine View. The days of the single strawberry slice are behind me.
ST. CHARLES – In support of shelter animals, the Trellis Farm and Garden in St. Charles joined with the Wayne 4H Club from Waye-Dupage on April 19 to donate animal feed to local food pantries.
BATAVIA – The Friends of TriCity Family Services group hosted its 24th annual benefit and auction, “All That Glitters ... Treasuring Teens,” on April 20 at Lincoln Inn Banquets in Batavia. 
GENEVA – Rhonda Gentry, a local abstract expressionist oil painter, was selected as the featured artist for an exhibit at the Spex, in Geneva, from now through May 30.
ST. CHARLES – Noelle Speers, 8, of North Aurora, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Illinois Pageant, which will take place Aug. 2 and 3 at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.
With apologies to the true victims of the Flood of 2013, it may be said that my situation changed abruptly due to a major collection of fluid – in my lungs! Early thoughts turned to pneumonia, but in any case it was destination Delnor from where this is written on a Wednesday afternoon.
