Nearly two weeks removed from capturing four medals at the IHSA state meet, St. Charles North swimmer Kyle Gannon still struggles to shake the thought of one particular figure.

Why Gannon was selected: Gannon earned four medals at the IHSA boys swimming and diving state meet at Evanston, including a sixth-place individual finish in the 500-yard freestyle.
EVANSTON – Their best-laid plans were threatened, then thwarted, but St. Charles North swimmers still trudged from the Evanston natatorium to the locker room with their heads up.

AURORA – The St. Charles East boys swimming team won a competitive Upstate Eight Conference meet with Metea Valley on Thursday, 98-87.
ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles East boys swimming and diving team defeated Upstate Eight Conference rival Neuqua Valley, 104-81, on Thursday behind solid nights from Shaun Seuschek and Alec Carnell.
ST. CHARLES – St. Charles North junior Tom Russe was creating waves on Thursday, edging a pair of St. Charles East divers to win 1-meter diving and help the North Stars beat the Saints, 98.5-87.5 in a boys swimming and diving dual meet.
OSWEGO – Batavia guard Sami Villarreal split a pair of free throws with about six seconds left on Thursday as the Batavia girls basketball team edged Hampshire, 48-47, at the Oswego Holiday Tournament.
ELGIN – The Geneva girls basketball team remained undefeated with Tuesday’s 62-41 victory at Larkin, but the Vikings still know they aren’t flawless.
Swagger can be difficult to detect in athletes submerged under water.
