Batavia senior Brandon Clabough has been able to recite the school pole vault record since he was a freshman. He has at least one more chance to eclipse Jay Markuson's 1977 standard of 14 feet, 6 inches at the 3A St. Charles North Sectional next week, but also is hopeful to earn a state meet berth over Memorial Day weekend. Also a hurdler, Clabough has been a track and field standout through much of his athletic career at Batavia, which also included a role as the football team's placekicker. He committed to Western Illinois to vault, and still is unsure about hurdles. DeKALB — During the 1,600-meter relay at Friday’s Northern Illinois Big 12 Boys Track and Field Meet, one Kaneland athlete yelled “Let’s go Rochelle, get them!”
