Girls Soccer

LaGRANGE PARK – Freshman Quincy Kellett scored in both halves Wednesday to guide the Rosary girls soccer team past host Nazareth Academy, 2-0, in an IHSA Class 2A sectional semifinal.
SCHAUMBURG – A collective sense of defensive purpose is working wonders for the St. Charles North girls soccer team this postseason.
ELGIN – The Geneva boys volleyball team outlasted West Chicago, 25-23, 24-26, 25-23, on Tuesday to win a Larkin Regional semifinal.
ST. CHARLES – With little varsity soccer track record entering this season, St. Charles North junior Natalie Winkates started the spring as a virtual unknown.
ST. CHARLES – A celebration of St. Charles soccer turned one-sided in a hurry.
WEST CHICAGO – This time, the Geneva girls soccer team made sure there would be no possibility of overtime.
AURORA – While it was the fourth consecutive regional final appearance for the Rosary girls soccer team on Saturday, it was the first for freshman forward Quincy Kellett – and she wouldn’t miss a beat.
WEST CHICAGO – Wheaton Academy forward Ally Witt was feeling the heat during her team’s regional championship match against Trinity on Saturday, and it had little to do with the warm late-spring weather.
HOFFMAN ESTATES – The Batavia girls soccer team paid a heavy price for giving away too many free kicks in an IHSA Class 3A regional championship game Friday at Conant.
A punctured jersey was a small price to pay Wednesday for St. Charles East girls soccer junior defender Allie Arvizu. Arvizu, who had a sizable hole through the No. 7 on her white jersey from rough play during East’s 1-0, regional semifinal win against Glenbard North, has less superficial concerns on her mind, like how the Saints can defeat host St. Charles North in today’s 4:30 p.m. IHSA Class 3A regional championship match. In this week’s Weekend Chit-chat with Chronicle sports editor Jay Schwab, Arvizu touches base on the rivalry with the North Stars, staying focused at the end of the school year and, of course, her tattered uniform. The following is an edited transcript:
ROSELLE – St. Charles East and St. Charles North emerged as the top two boys tennis teams on Friday during the first day of the IHSA Lake Park Sectional, each advancing a pair of entries to today’s final round and, consequently, to next week’s IHSA state tournament.
ST. CHARLES – Carly Pottle was ticked.
WEST CHICAGO – The Geneva girls soccer team wasted little time proving why it received a top seed in the IHSA Class 3A postseason.
BURLINGTON – Jordan Ginther gathered her Kaneland girls soccer teammates near midfield during an injury stoppage late in Wednesday’s match.
HOFFMAN ESTATES – A slow start wasn’t going to bring down the Batavia girls soccer team.
