Make your home stand out with these simple steps

SPONSORED

Spring has sprung in the housing market, which means it’s time to get your home and property in shape for potential buyers.

The National Association of REALTOR® recommends a few easy steps to draw more buyers to your home and get top dollar.

Amp up your curb appeal.

Take a look at your home objectively from the street and ensure that the condition of the exterior of your home is appealing. Check the condition of the landscaping, paint, front door and house number.

Enrich with color.

Paint is inexpensive and goes a long way to making a big first impression. Soft yellow and pale greens are welcoming colors that also lead the eye from room to room and flatter skin tones.

Upgrade the kitchen and bathrooms.

These two rooms are make-or-break to potential home buyers. Make sure both the kitchen and bathroom are clean and clutter-free. Consider enhancing these spaces with upgraded pulls, sinks and faucets.

Clean out and organize closets.

Remove anything you don’t need or haven’t worn in awhile. Closets should only be half-full so buyers can visualize their personal items inside and see the potential for the space.

Hire a home inspector.

Consulting with a home inspector can be a preemptive strike to find and fix problems before selling your home. Show receipts to buyers to demonstrate your detailed care for their future home.

Update window treatments.

Buyers want light and a view of the outside; not outdated, heavy drapes. To diffuse light and add privacy, consider energy-efficient shades and blinds.
