I feel like I am missing something

What is the importance of back teeth? No one can see it, so why do I need it. The back teeth are designed to chew your food. When you chew your food thoroughly, you can swallow more easily and it aids in digestion. When you lose a back tooth due to tooth decay, trauma (such as an accident), or being born without it, you are forced to chew on the other side of your mouth. This can lead to more wear and break down of the teeth on the opposite side. This can lead to losing more teeth. What do you do, if you have lost a back tooth?

You have a few options.

First you can have an implant placed. An implant is a metal post that is placed into the area of the missing tooth and then has a crown placed on top of it. The implant acts like a natural tooth and chewing is restored.

Second, have a bridge placed. A bridge is cemented to the teeth that are adjacent to the missing tooth.

Third, you can have a removable partial denture placed. This is a lab made and you take it out at night.
