A great way to get involved in a community festival is to create a tandem event that celebrates the spirit of the main entertainment. At FoxFire Tavern in Geneva, Hopp on the Vine is a fun beer and wine tasting event that expands on the offerings available at Festival of the Vine in September and the Swedish Days Festival in June.
"We'll have multiple vendors on site from 11:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7th," explained Samantha Donovan, Party & Event Coordinator for FoxFire Tavern. "A nice variety of beers and wines will be available for attendees to taste and enjoy. We'll be passing charcuterie plates to cleanse the palate, and everyone receives a personalized FoxFire glass."
Guests are free to wander around, learning about where the wines come from and all about the process of brewing beer. Representatives from Elevage Wines, Louis Glunz Winery, Pure Wine, Two Brothers Brewing, Penrose Brewing Company, and Samuel Adams Boston Brewery, among others, will be available to answer questions and discuss their products. "We encourage our guests to enjoy lunch at FoxFire after the tastings, or they can walk up to Festival of the Vine," added Donovan. "Our guests can purchase a bottle of wine to go or a 6-pack of their favorite mix-and-match beers."
Wines are selected based on what the owners and staff at FoxFire enjoy, and on what is new or interesting. "Hopp on the Vine gives people a way to get familiar with the wines we serve," said Donovan. "The beer we choose is based on local and seasonal offerings. Penrose and Two Brothers will offer beers that are exclusive for the season or are new trials for the fall."
