BATAVIA – The 22nd annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day is Wednesday, May 27, and on that day The Holmstad is sponsoring a free Senior Health & Fitness Day Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Holmstad is at 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia.
This year’s theme is “If You Keep Moving ... You’ll Keep Improving.” The free event is open to the public.
The schedule for the day’s events will be:
• Health Fair, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: More than 40 vendors will cater to every dimension of wellness. There will be fresh produce for purchase from the local farmers’ market, interactive workshops, free health screenings and hand/chair massages, free giveaways, raffle prizes and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of toothpaste and toothbrushes to support the SMILE Drive for the Wayside Cross Ministries.
• “Moving to Happiness – Living the Prosperous Life After 50,” Petra Kolber, 1 p.m.: Kolber is a regular guest on "Today" and "CBS Early Show," and writes a health and happiness column for Spry Living Magazine.
• Healthy Cooking Demos, every 30 minutes from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Healthy recipes from The Holmstad’s executive chef Warren DeWolfe. Learn to make curried melon soup with yogurt; roasted corn and avocado salad over frisee lettuce with cilantro lime vinaigrette; a special lemon asparagus and Parmesan risotto; and summer berries with crème anglaise.
