The National Weather Service has updated its winter storm warning in effect from 6 p.m. today through 6 p.m. Friday. The latest forecast numbers range from a 7- to 12-inch snowfall, with more possible in localized areas during the long-duration storm.
"Travel will be very difficult to impossible at times, including during the morning commute on
Friday," the NWS website stated of the severe winter weather conditions expected including significant reductions in visibility. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency."
In addition to Kane, the counties anticipated to be affected include Boone, DeKalb, Grundy, Kendall, LaSalle, Lee, McHenry, Ogle and Winnebago.
