GENEVA – The Geneva Academic Foundation is looking for volunteers to be new board members, the nonprofit announced in a news release.
The foundation raises money each year to fund grants for equipment, tools, programs and services for teachers and classrooms throughout Geneva School District 304, as well as two annual scholarships for graduating seniors.
The GAF awarded more than $1.3 million in grants since its founding in 1987, according to its website, www.gafgeneva.org.
To become a board member is an opportunity to be involved behind the scenes, the release stated.
Board members contribute in many ways, including attending monthly board meetings and assisting with key events, such as Geneva Idol Karaoke and the Fall Gala, the release stated.
Being a board member is a way to give back to the school district and the community, the release stated.
