BATAVIA – The growing fan base for Energy City Brewing's small-batch craft beers made in Batavia just led to the launch of weekly Friday evening hours to complement the monthly bottle releases from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each first Saturday.
Production capacity recently was increased by the Batavia couple behind the nanobrewery, whose Saturday events had people lining up an hour or two early to keep from being disappointed when the artisan brews sold out.
The co-owners are David Files, award-winning brewmaster, and his wife, Heidi Files, who handles the business side of the operation, which began about a year ago.
"People come to our releases for the experience," Heidi Files said. "The master brewer is there greeting every customer. [There are] free samples of beer [indoors and] a lot of fun discussion even in the line. People interacting, sharing their experiences, learning about the beer. David is talking about each of the beers – the chemistry, process, history."
