The North Stars overcame a gritty defensive effort from the short-handed Saints, who were missing junior midfielder Kayla Villa because of a recently revealed stress fracture.
North capitalized on a first half goal from Cassidy Joyce on a nice cross by Claudia Najera.
After ping-ponging around in the box, Joyce poked it through.
"You knew when you were going to come across a team as defensive-oriented, disciplined, and as quality as St. Charles East with a solid backline and an even better goalie behind them, you knew it was going to be a nailbiter," North coach Brian Harks said.
"At this point of the state playoffs, all you need is to find a way to win."
