ELBURN – To accommodate the annual Elburn Days Parade, Route 47 will be closed from Route 38 to Keslinger Road from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17 in downtown Elburn, organizers announced in a news release.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. at North Reader and Main streets (Route 47) and goes south on Main, across the railroad tracks, then turns west on South Street.
Motorists are asked to use the Anderson Road bridge, east of Route 47, as a bypass.
The parade includes tractors, horses, high school and middle school bands, fire trucks and entries from local businesses.
Children are reminded to stay on the sidewalk and not approach parade participants for candy.
The parade is the official kickoff to Elburn Days, a weekend of live entertainment and food that includes local sweet corn, pork chop sandwiches, Ream’s brats and taco in a bag.
Events include tractor pulls, mud volleyball, a livestock auction and dunk tank. Other attractions include a beer tent and crafters.
