Sugar Grove teachers serve up food at McDonald's restaurant

Educators helped raise money on "McTeacher's Night" for elementary school

SUGAR GROVE- Teachers from Kaneland Community School District 302 took orders and served dinner at a local McDonald's on "McTeacher's Night" Jan. 8 to help raise money for McDole Elementary School.

The educators volunteered behind the counter and at the drive-thru window at the restaurant, located on Rt. 47 in Sugar Grove.

The proceeds from the sales of 240 apple pies went directly to benefit the students, while fifteen percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were donated to the McDole PTO.

The Schmitt Family, owner-operators of the Sugar Grove McDonald’s, were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

“We are proud to serve the families of the McDole School community and through the McTeacher’s Night event," the family said in a news release. "In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”
