Chesterbrook Academy Preschool donates 189 pounds of food to Northern Illinois Food Bank
GENEVA – Chesterbrook Academy Preschool student Jillian Snyder is happy that one less person in Kane County will go hungry thanks to her donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank in Geneva.
"I like helping people who don't have food," she said.
Jillian and her fellow students on Jan. 9 delivered 189 pounds of food to the food bank, which will feed 157 people. Northern Illinois Food Bank has 141 member agencies in Kane County – including food pantries – and distributed 9.2 million meals in the county through that network and its programs this past year, said Northern Illinois Food Bank communications manager Elizabeth Gartman.
"We love being able to get kids involved," Gartman said. "This is a great way for them to kind of get a first look at the food bank and see what we're all about and what we do. It means a lot to us and I know it's a fun opportunity for them, too."
