Coach Scott Hennig said the school record may have crossed his mind a couple of times in this his second season at the helm of the program, but his focus is 100-percent on preparing his team for a tough postseason ahead.
“I have said this a couple times, but sometimes winning a regional can be harder than a sectional,” Hennig said. “We had a team meeting (on Tuesday) after winning conference and said we wanted to treat each of these last three games like they were regional games. I don’t want to lose these two weeks because of messing around with anything. I thought the guys took that first step and came away with another important win for us.”
After regular season games with Hampshire and Glenbard North, Geneva, the No. 1 seed of the 4A Bartlett Sectional, will open the postseason with a Metea Valley Regional semifinal against the play-in winner of host Metea Valley and Hinsdale Central on Feb. 26.
