Henry Pratt shooting: a timeline

Harrowing account of 95-minute ordeal that left 6 dead and 6 police hospitalized

AURORA – Friday afternoon’s workplace shooting, which left six people dead at an Aurora company took place over 95 harrowing minutes, police said. For more than an hour during the ordeal, no contact was made with the shooter.

A brief timeline of the actions, from the first 911 call to confirmation that the shooter was “neutralized” is provided below:

1:24 Officers dispatched to the site when original call came in to 911 of an active shooter in the plant

1:24 Another call came in – caller stating shots fired, employee being terminated

1:25 Another call – two shots fired inside the warehouse

1:25 Another call – shots were heard over the phone

1:26 Another call – shots fired

1:27 Another call – more shots fired

1:28 First officers arrive on the scene

1:28 Special response team activated

1:30 Report from police of first officer shot

1:31 Indication there were four victims upstairs, determined deceased

1:31 Indication there was a victim in the bay, determined deceased

1:37-1:52 Police personnel were responding to extract wounded officers at the scene

1:41 Emergency vehicle breaches facility to allow for police to access the scene and reach the officers. A simultaneous effort began to look for injured and clear the warehouse.

2:58 Officers indicated contact was made

2:59 Officers offered confirmation that the suspect had been neutralized

BY THE NUMBERS

Emergency responders from across the region joined in the effort. Aurora Police report participation of the following:

8 SWAT teams, from federal down to local 25 to 35 agencies 200 to 300 officers 8 contact teams throughout the initial search made of 6 to 8 officers each 13 rescue task force teams of 8 officers and 3 medics from the fire department

OFFICERS INJURED

Update on the condition of the Aurora police officers who were shot. All of the injuries are considered not life-threatening:

Officer 1 – Male, 39, with 13 years of service at the Aurora Police Department. The officer suffered a gunshot wound to his lower extremity and is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Officer 2 – Male, 52, with 25 years of service at the Aurora Police Department. The officer suffered a gunshot wound to his upper extremity. He was treated and released from the hospital Saturday morning.

Officer 3 – Male, 52, with 24 years of service at the Aurora Police Department, suffered a gunshot wound to the lower extremity. He was treated and released from a local hospital on Friday.

Officer 4 – Male, 53, with 30 years of service. The officer also suffered a gunshot wound to the lower extremity and was treated at an area hospital.

Officer 5 – Male, 24, with just under four years of service. The officer suffered a series of shrapnel wounds to the upper extremity. He currently is being treated and is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Officer 6 – Male, 23, with two years of police service at the Aurora Police Department. He suffered a minor injury while responding to the incident that was not related to gunfire.
