ST. CHARLES – A local Realtor was presented with the Chairman's Award at the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce’s 97th Annual Charlemagne Awards Gala on Feb. 8.

Debbie Gurley, Realtor and broker at Miscella Real Estate for the past nine years, accepted the award, which is given each year to an individual who has gone above and beyond as a St. Charles Chamber of Commerce board director.

Developing the marketing committee in 2018 and taking on a leading role as the marketing committee chair, Gurley guided and assisted in the selection of a new Chamber website that will be introduced later this year. That is just one example of how she stepped up to assist St. Charles Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Sharon Spero throughout the year.

“I am so honored, I truly am," Gurley said in a news release from Miscella Real Estate. "I joined the Chamber years ago to start my real estate business and build my network. What I have received in hindsight is irreplaceable referrals, wonderful business, fantastic business colleagues and friendships. I care so much about our Chamber and community."

In addition to the award, Gurley took a role as the Chair of the St. Charles Women’s Business Council twice and previously won the L.E.A.P Award in 2015 from the Women’s Business Council of the St. Charles Chamber. The L.E.A.P award stands for Leadership, Excellence, Achievement and Professionalism. This honor is given to one chamber member who has gone out of their way going above and beyond in helping the community and assistance to other women.

Gurley has also held many positions with the Batavia and Geneva chambers. She’s been president of the Geneva Women in Business, as well as Geneva’s networking chair for many years, Batavia Chamber ambassador and currently an active member of all three chambers.

She also is member of the Mutual Ground board and a past board member for Zonta West – Illinois.
