St. Charles reception at Fine Line to unveil sculpture exhibits

ST. CHARLES – Sculpture will be the focus at the Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, which will combine its indoor and outdoor spaces into one gallery exhibit. A reception is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. May 17.

Titled “Sculpture,” the show will bring together local and national artists to showcase all things sculptural, a news release stated.

Fine Line first hosted an outdoor sculpture exhibit in 2017, and turned it into an annual event. The outdoor show will consist of works by seven artists, whose pieces will be on display around the Fine Line campus, and will remain on the grounds until the end of October.

Thirty artists will take part in the indoor exhibit. While many are local, artists from California, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Colorado, Missouri, Minneapolis, Michigan and Kentucky also will have pieces in this exhibit. It promises to be a beautiful mix of artists' views with many whimsical pieces included, according to the release. The indoor exhibition will run until June 29.

During the reception, at about 6:30 p.m., two awards for best of show (one for inside and one for outside) and six merit awards will be presented. The judge Michael Bennett is a member of the advisory panel for the Northern Illinois University Art Museum. After the awards, all artists who are present will be given the opportunity to talk about their pieces.

Snacks and refreshments will be served during the free reception. Fine Line is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 37W570 Bolcum Road. For more information, visit fineline.org.
