DOWNERS GROVE – Featuring summer films for children for $1, Classic Cinemas announced that Wintrust will sponsor the long-standing Wednesday program, now called the Wintrust Morning Movie Series.
It will offer family-friendly movies for $1 for 10 Wednesdays from June 5 through Aug. 7, a news release stated. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the film starts at 10 a.m. Theater staff and local community organizations will have activities to entertain moviegoers before the film starts.
“We’ve seen great success with movie meet-ups for Platinum Adventures, our travel and social club for those 50 or better, and we thought this would be a fun way during the summer to extend the idea to our Junior Savers kids club,” Dennis Jones, CEO of Wintrust’s Hinsdale Bank & Trust, stated in the release.
As a Wintrust customer and family-owned company that grew from one theater to 14 in the Chicago suburbs, Classic Cinemas saw a great brand fit, Chris Johnson, CEO and owner of Classic Cinemas, stated in the release.
“We have staff that grew up coming to see our Wednesday series, and now they’re planning the lobby games for a new generation,” Johnson said.
The Wintrust Morning Movie Series will be shown at all 14 locations. They include theaters in Downers Grove, North Riverside, Elmhurst and Naperville.
Moviegoers are encouraged to arrive early as space is limited. Groups of 15 or more can reserve seats with a special group rate of $6.50 per person, which includes admission and a discounted Kiddie Combo: popcorn, drink and fruit snacks. Reservation forms can be found at www.classiccinemas.com/wmms.
