Geneva Community Chest sets 3rd 5K run/walk fundraiser

Runs, walks offered for all ages in Geneva

GENEVA – The Geneva Community Chest is hosting its third annual Donut Dash 5K and Primrose School of St. Charles West Kids Runs on July 13, according to a news release.

The Donut Dash will be a scenic 5K walk/run along the Fox River trails, along with the Primrose School of St. Charles West 1-mile run for children ages 7-12 and a Munchkin Fun Run for children under age 6.

Donuts will be provided at the finish line for all participants, the release stated.

The Jaguar chip-timed, USATF certified 5K run/walk will start at 8 a.m. at the Gunnar Anderson Forest Preserve, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva, which is located behind the Kane County Government Center, the release stated.

The 1-mile and Munchkin Runs will start immediately after completion of the 5K race. The 1 Mile Run will also be chip-timed.

The cost is $35 for the Donut Dash 5K with a T-shirt or $30 without a T-shirt. The 1-Mile Youth Run is $15, Munchkin Fun Run is $10 or $15 with T-shirt.

T-shirts are guaranteed for those who register before July 1, the release stated. After that, shirt sizes may be limited.

Packet pickup will be from 3 to 7 p.m. July 11 at Geneva Running Outfitters, 221 W. State St., Geneva.

Social activities will continue after the races at Burger Local, 577 S. Third St., as the restaurant will open early to accommodate the Donut Dashers.

Race director Brad Kosirog said they raised $15,000 at the race event last year and set the goal at $20,000 for this year.
