Whether you say it in Swedish or English, the word INCREDIBLE encompasses everything that was last month’s huge Swedish Days festival. Sure, Mother Nature provided some challenges, but the crowds still came. We hope everyone had as much fun attending as we did, at the chamber, planning this community 70th celebration.
A HUGE thank you to the city of Geneva departments for making sure the downtown always looked its best, for all the pre work of setting up, hooking up and cleaning up whatever was necessary to run the six day event. To the Geneva Police Department, Geneva Fire Department and EMA for keeping everyone safe and not letting the crowds have “too much fun”. The sponsors who were present all week, the 100-plus volunteers who represented Geneva superbly and the Geneva businesses for staying open late for the 200,000-plus visitors. To anyone who donated monetarily, time or talents – Geneva Chamber appreciates it!
Back for its eighteenth year, the prestigious Geneva Arts Fair will showcase the work of over 155 fine artists from around the country. Designed as an interactive gallery, this year’s juried show will provide visitors with the opportunity to peruse multiple mediums and talk directly with the artists about their stunning displays. As they stroll down Third Street in Geneva, guests can enjoy art “en plein aire” and best of all, for free.
Once again, the expertise and products of Plandscape, Inc. will make over the corners of South Third and Franklin streets into a comforting breathtaking display of foliage and color. You won’t believe that this beauty is only temporary.
More information on this can be found at genevachamber.com/geneva_art_fairs.php.
Geneva merchants and restaurants will also be providing guests with sales and food and wine specials, creating two full days of sensory overload.
The 18th Annual Geneva Arts Fair is July 27-28 and a must do on your summer calendar. The show is open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days. Visit the above website for more information.
And we already have one Geneva Chamber Classic Car Show complete, why not enjoy this evening's show? Every Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. through August 29, classic car collectors and enthusiasts gather together behind the historic Kane County Courthouse. Make it a night and grab a bite at one of the many award-winning restaurants, then visit the shops that are open late.
Serious summer fun in Geneva.
