ST. CHARLES – Things are looking sweet for a celebration at Kimmer’s Ice Cream in St. Charles to mark the completion of renovations, with festivities planned from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 20.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony with the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce will begin at 12:30 p.m. at 1 Illinois St., a news release stated.
The renovations consist of an updated interior that features a built-in booth to eliminate a few tables and allow for better traffic flow, dipping cases in a single row with the payment station at the end of the row to allow for all the flavors to be visible, new countertops that brighten up the space, new chandeliers, an interior neon sign and a heart window to add some dazzle.
A new lighted brick patio gives patrons more outdoor seating.
Kimmer’s Ice Cream owner Kimberly Yates said her goal was to help enhance the customer experience with an updated look, better seating options and a more efficient line flow.
“We love being a part of St. Charles and are invested in this community,” Yates stated in the release. “It’s a joy to be able to do what we love in such an amazing city.”
Throughout the celebration, Kimmer’s will offer a buy-one-scoop-get-one-scoop-free deal all day, as well as a raffle every hour from 1 to 9 p.m. with one entry per receipt. Prizes are to several downtown businesses such as $100 to Blue Goose Market, $100 to Wok n Fire, $75 to The Wine Exchange, $100 to Eden on the River and others to Kava Diem, Brunch Cafe, Arcedium Coffeehouse, Two Wild Seeds, SIP Parties and Kimmer’s.
The shop will present face painting from 1 to 3 p.m., balloon twisting from 3 to 6 p.m., a photo booth by Oh Photo from 3 to 7 p.m. and music from the duo Yesterday’s New from 6 to 9 p.m.
