New Philharmonic, under the baton of Maestro Kirk Muspratt, will perform its free pops concert indoors instead of outside because of the heat wave.

GLEN ELLYN – Because of the excessive heat warning, the New Philharmonic pops concert set for 7:30 p.m. July 19 will move from the planned outdoor venue into the McAninch Arts Center Belushi Performance Hall at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn.

The 780 free tickets will be distributed in the MAC lobby on a first-come basis beginning July 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. and again July 19 from noon until the beginning of the concert. A limit of two tickets per person will be given away.

On July 19, the doors to the theater will open at 6:30 p.m. A limited selection of food items and drinks will be for sale in the MAC lobby beginning at 6 p.m. No chairs, coolers, blankets, outside food or drink are permitted in the Belushi Performance Hall. Patrons are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to benefit the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry and COD Student Fuel Pantry.

As previously scheduled, the concert also will be broadcast live on facebook.com/AtTheMAC, youtube.com/user/CollegeofDuPage and WDCB-TV/CAN TV42. It also may be viewed on Comcast (Glen Ellyn Channel 18; West Chicago Channel 18; Wheaton Channel 99) and on WOW (Glen Ellyn Channel 24; Naperville Channel 24).

The concert will feature classical music, marches, movie scores and other works. Guest soprano Katherine Weber will be showcased in “Vilja Aria” from the opera “The Merry Widow,” as well as in "The White Cliffs of Dover,” “Kiss Me Again” from the operetta “Mlle. Modiste” and “The Power of Love.” A performance by the 2019 COD’s Got Talent student talent competition winner Natasza Sikora will precede the concert at 7:15 p.m. The evening also will feature a performance by pianist John Ogan, a winner of New Philharmonic’s 2019 Young People’s Competition.

The McAninch Arts Center is on the COD campus at 425 Fawell Blvd. For more information visit AtTheMAC.org or call 630-942-4000.
