BATAVIA – Fox Valley Ballet will conduct open auditions July 28 for its annual production of “The Fox Valley Nutcracker,” being performed Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre.
The performances Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at BFAC will showcase professional dancers from the Joffrey Ballet, along with a premier Chicago ballet company, Ballet 5:8, and local dancers ages 5 through adult from over 20 dance studios in the western suburbs, a news release stated. The holiday classic features lavish sets and costumes, special effects and dancing set to Tchaikovsky’s original score.
“The Fox Valley Nutcracker “was named one of eight favorite “Nutcrackers” to see in Illinois from Pointe Magazine’s search for “America’s Best-Loved Nutcracker” in 2015.
The collaborative production will bring together over 100 performers from dance studios and schools throughout the western suburbs. Children starting at the age of 5 can audition for roles such as mice and gift bearers and advanced dancers can audition for lead roles such as the Snow Queen and Spanish Lead. It also will cast adults who want to join in on the fun and either perform with their children or just because they love to be on stage.
Auditions will go on all day July 28, divided by age groups, at BFAC at 1399 W. Wilson St. For audition details, visit foxvalleynutcracker.com. More information on the venue is at bataviafineartscentre.org.
