Geneva graduate finishes basic training

Tschetter receives 'Soldier of the Cycle' honors

BLACKBERRY TOWNSHIP – Pfc. Aaron M. Tschetter, of Blackberry Township near Geneva, graduated with honors as Soldier of the Cycle from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S. C. on Aug. 15, according to a news release.

Tschetter is a 2019 graduate of Geneva High School.

His drill sergeants selected Tschetter for this honor because he displayed a high level of professionalism, determination, motivation, selfless service and teamwork throughout the 10 weeks of basic combat training, the release stated.

Tschetter received a commendation for this honor and was able to meet with Fort Jackson's commanding officer, Brig. Gen. Milford Beagle and Command Sgt. Maj. Jerimiah Gan following his graduation ceremony.

For his basic training, Tschetter was assigned to Echo Company, First Platoon, 3rd Battalion, 313th Infantry Brigade at Fort Jackson. He continues his Army training at Fort Jackson where he is receiving advanced individual training as a chaplain assistant, the release stated.

He will return to Illinois this fall where he will serve as part of the Illinois National Guard.
