Cyclists are invited to "ride for a reason" at The Salvation Army's inaugural Fox Valley River Ride on from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28.
The bike ride will start and end in Mt. St. Mary’s Park in St. Charles along the picturesque Fox River Trail, according to a press release from The Salvation Army. Three lengths of suggested trails will be offered for expert, novice and family riders, stretching from Aurora to Carpentersville.
This family-oriented community event is meant to raise awareness and financial support for the programs and services of The Salvation Army across the Fox Valley Region.
The news release states that every dollar raised and each mile ridden provides critical support for those in need. The registration fee of $25 for adults and $10 for children provides meals, case management, emergency assistance, after-school programs and other services.
At check-in, each rider will receive their ride bag containing a detailed route map, assorted goodies, a free t-shirt and a fitness tracker. After crossing the finish line, riders are encouraged to get their photos taken before enjoying a meal, which is included with registration.
