ST. CHARLES – St. Charles Episcopal Church will host its annual Pet Blessing at 4 p.m. Oct. 6.
According to a news release, the church will honor of the patron saint of animals, St. Francis of Assisi, and recognize the blessing that pets are in the lives of the people who love them. Each animal will receive a St. Francis medal and a blessing prayer from the Rev. Stacy Walker, Rector of St. Charles Episcopal Church.
All animals are welcome on a leash or in a crate. Livestock and photographs of animals who would prefer to stay at home are also welcome. Children are invited to bring their stuffed animals as well. The event will take place rain or shine.
Donations to benefit the Starfish Animal Rescue group will be collected by the St. Charles Middle School Confirmation Class as part of their service project focused on caring for God's creatures, the release stated.
