Beyond the Bookshelves: Geneva Public Library updates timeline for new building

Construction continues on the new Geneva Public Library at 227 S. Seventh St. After consulting with their building team, library officials hope that construction will be completed after the beginning of the year. The opening day will be determined at a later date.

Crews are installing terracotta on the south side of the building (facing Franklin Street) and have completed siding installation on the north side of the building (Campbell Street). Site work (sidewalks, parking lot) should begin in the next couple of weeks.

Get Ready for Halloween

Our middle school Library Squad put up decorations for Halloween, and they have included their recommended books and movies, too. Stop by our display cases to see if there’s something you’d like to check out.

The Librarian Recommends

Librarian Lexy Jones recommends “This Was Our Pact” by Ryan Andrews.

“This is about two boys who go on a quest to follow the lanterns from their fall festival. After crossing the bridge they were told never to cross, they meet some fantastical characters who both hinder and help them see their pact through to the end,” she said.

Paula Krapf is public relations and marketing manager for Geneva Public Library. The “Beyond the Bookshelves” column runs the third Thursday of each month. Feedback can be sent to editorial@kcchronicle.com.
