Hemp farmer reports $5k in stolen buds

Thieves steal 40-50 hemp buds

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – A Blackberry Township hemp grower reported to police Oct. 20 that someone had stolen $5,000 worth of hemp colas – a cluster of buds that grow tightly together, according to the Kane County Sheriff’s reports.

The owner of Hemp Haven, 3S257 Lorang Road, Blackberry Township, reported that someone had entered the property and taken 40 to 50 colas, which are the valuable part of the hemp, the report stated.

The owner said he believes the thieves parked a vehicle on Seavy Road east of Lorang Road and entered his hemp field through some corn, the report stated.

The owner told deputies he saw tire tracks and a footprint in a muddy area near the property line, which was photographed as evidence, the report stated.
