During December Geneva is the place to be

Yuletide cheer is starting to fill the air as Geneva gets decked out for the holidays. Chamber elves have been excitedly preparing for the House Tour, Dec 6-7 and Christmas Walk the evening of Dec 6, for months. We thank Little Red Barn Door for being the supporting sponsor of both events this year.

Five exquisite homes, aglow with holiday decorations, open their doors to visitors for self-guided tours, Friday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The personality of each home will illuminate when local decorators and landscapers work with homeowners to create holiday magic. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at Geneva Chamber office and several locations around town.   Please call 630-232-6060 or visit for more information on the house tour. Proceeds of the House Tour are used to decorate Geneva for the holiday season. This event may sell out, so order early!

The Christmas Walk on Friday evening, is presented by Geneva Chamber with the support of the City of Geneva, and begins at 6 pm with the Graham’s Candy Cane processional bringing the first candy cane of the season to Mayor Burns. Santa Lucia will then arrive with her attendants, share her Swedish story and offer Pepparkakor cookies to all. It will be a TREE-lightful celebration as the new tree is lit for the first time and young and young at heart will wait with anticipation as Santa Claus makes his Geneva debut.

Amongst the festive evening, Santa and his elf will open their home to hear children’s wishes, chestnuts are roasting over open fires, carolers are filling the night air with seasonal favorites and a live nativity scene is taking place. Dazzling window displays brimming with gift ideas invite shoppers to stroll through unique shops.
