Metra Union Pacific West Line trains will be delayed by about 15 minutes this weekend for construction of a new track between the Melrose Park and River Forest stops.
According to a news release from Metra, customers who would normally use the Maywood Station on weekends are advised to use either the Melrose Park or River Forest stations. Passengers can expect delays of 15 minutes on all weekend trains. On Friday night, some inbound trains may be delayed up to 20 minutes, and when the track is restored Monday, customers may also experience minor delays.
The release states that when finished, the project will add a total of eight miles of third track to the line and allow the 59 passenger trains and 70 freight trains that use the line each weekday to operate simultaneously.
