GENEVA – Geneva's curbside leaf program is running today in all three zones, but the snow-covered leaves have been slowing down operations from running at peak efficiency, officials announced in a news release.
With temperatures reaching single digits overnight and cold weather in the forecast tomorrow, leaf collection will be temporarily suspended Tuesday. Frozen, snow-covered leaves tend to jam up the vacuum equipment on the trucks.
The contractor is hoping to resume Wednesday, weather permitting.
The city will be posting additional updates on its website, www.geneva.il.us, in the next few days if any schedule modifications are required. Residents can find program details and curbside leaf collection progress map online.
The city also has been posting snow removal/weather updates on the city's website Alert Center. People can subscribe to receive community alerts and other notifications via Notify Me.
