ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – A Maple Park man facing felony fleeing and eluding charges and was given a Jan. 9 court date.

David R. Altepeter, 31, of the 44W500 block of Ramm Road, Maple Park, appeared briefly before Kane County Judge David Kliment Thursday on a June 10 charge of felony aggravated fleeing a police officer by traveling at least 21 miles per hour over the speed limit.

The felony charge stems from a May 27 incident in which Altepeter had been charged with speeding 90 miles an hour in a 55-mile-an-hour zone on his motorcycle, according to court records and Kane County Sheriff’s reports.

Also in that incident, Altepeter was charged with not having a license plate on his motorcycle and violating his license classification, in that he did not have a motorcycle license, all misdemeanor traffic violations.

Kane County Court records show Altepeter was charged with speeding four times previously.

Altepeter was charged with driving 21 to 25 miles an hour over the limit on Jan. 1, 2009 for which he received supervision, paid a fine and attended traffic safety school, records show. According to the citation, he was traveling 78 miles an hour in a 55 mile-an-hour zone.

On Aug. 6, 2009, Altepeter was charged with driving 11 to 14 miles an hour over the limit, for which he received supervision and a fine, according to court records. According to the citation, he was traveling 67 miles an hour in a 55 mile-an-hour zone.

On Aug. 31, 2011, Altepeter was charged with driving 15 to 20 miles an hour over the limit, for which he pleaded guilty and paid a fine, records show. According to the citation, he was traveling 62 miles an hour in a 45 mile-an-hour zone.
