ST. CHARLES – Vero Voce has become a participating school of The Royal Conservatory (RCM) Certificate Program.
In January, Vero Voce is instituting a new theater and speech arts curriculum as well as expanding the current voice and piano curriculum to include a full syllabus and examination procedure, according to a news release from Vero Voce. The RCM Certificate Program is internationally recognized not only for its structure, but inspiration, motivation, progress, enjoyment and deeper engagement of its students, the release stated.
The new theater curriculum at Vero Voce will offer a series of courses which mirrors the RCM speech, arts and drama curriculum and will be one of the first in the area to offer such a program, according to the release. Courses are designed to enhance the actor in performance, speaking, stage presence and auditioning, the release stated.
These courses work toward examinations for different levels of achievement in The Royal Conservatory Certificate Program. The objective of the curriculum is to put theater and literature in the spotlight, enhance public speaking, presentation and story-telling skills, and finding the student’s real voice, according to the release.
The sequence of courses will build self-confidence, focus, flexibility and physical energy in their communication with others. These life-skills will help in interviews, auditions, college placement and future career choices, the release stated.
Public speaking training is an element of the program that is most closely tied to success in academic and work situations. Students learn to craft and deliver a message that will influence and persuade an audience, mastering the main goals of speaking effectively and achieving success, according to the release.
