We've got everything from storytimes to DIY crafts to baby playdates to book clubs to a journaling workshop lined up in December and January. We hope you discover an event to enjoy and join us!

View our calendar at gpld.org/events. You can also create a customized calendar of events based on event type or age group to print out as a handy guide!

Holiday closing

We will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. We wish our community a wonderful Christmas! We will reopen at 9 a.m. on Dec. 26.

New library update

Landscaping work is underway at the new Geneva Public Library at 227 S. Seventh St. Several trees have been planted in parking lot islands; the landscaping plan calls for more than 70 trees to be planted on the site. Crews are also doing extensive work on the interior of the building.

Get regular updates on progress of the new library and the status of our current building at gpld.org. Please contact us anytime at board@gpld.org.

The Librarian Recommends

Librarian Natasha Wands recommends “Because” by Mo Willems. “In a major departure from his usual style, Willems brings to life an equally lovable tale of chance and opportunity as a young artist discovers the beauty of taking center stage. Perfect for budding musicians and future concert-goers alike,” she said.

Paula Krapf is public relations and marketing manager for Geneva Public Library. The “Beyond the Bookshelves” column runs the third Thursday of each month. Feedback can be sent to editorial@kcchronicle.com.
