ST. CHARLES – Actor and singer Donnie Wahlberg showed off his generous side on the first day of the new year by giving a $2,020 tip at an IHOP restaurant in St. Charles on Wednesday.
"Happy New Year. 2020 tip challenge," Wahlberg wrote on the receipt. His wife, actress and television personality Jenny McCarthy, posted a photo of the receipt on her Twitter account. The couple lives in St. Charles.
"Donnie Wahlberg starting 2020 off like the amazing man he is," McCarthy said in the Twitter post.
A Wahlburgers restaurant, which is being built at the southwest corner of Route 38 and Randall Road in St. Charles near the Meijer store, is expected to open in March. A Starbucks restaurant and a Mod Pizza restaurant – which sells artisan-style pizzas, salads and other items – are expected to open next to the new Wahlburgers restaurant.
The restaurant chain is owned by chef Paul Wahlberg in partnership with two of his brothers, Donnie and Mark. In March, hundreds of people came out to see Wahlberg break ground on his signature Wahlburgers restaurant.
Wahlberg and McCarthy were married at the Hotel Baker in St. Charles in 2014 and the second season of the A&E docu-series "Donnie Loves Jenny" showed the couple's move from New York City to St. Charles in 2015.
