BATAVIA– Batavia Public School District 101 will join the Illinois State Board of Education in the eighth statewide survey of school climate and learning conditions, according to a news release from the district.
The survey provides a unique opportunity for students, teachers and parents to have a voice in improving their schools, the release stated. This month, students and teachers are asked to take a 25 -minute survey to help identify strengths and weaknestsses in their school’s learning environment.
The parent survey is now available; parents are asked to visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to provide feedback. These surveys will serve as an opportunity for schools to reflect on progress since last year.
Superintendent of Schools at BPS101, Dr. Lisa Hichens highlights the district’s motto of Always Learning, Always Growing.
“The district encourages all of our teachers, parents, and eligible students to participate in the survey. We will use the results in concert with our current district initiative ‘Building Our Future Together’ to help us plan for the evolution of education in our district,” Hichens stated in the release.
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey provides a comprehensive picture of a school’s organizational culture in an individualized report measuring five “essentials” critical for school success, the release stated. Last year’s survey showed that all BPS101 schools had the essential elements to improve student outcomes.
Parent participation in the survey plays a role in the district’s improvement efforts. Previous year results from the survey can be seen on our State School Report Card website for Fall 2020.
