ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Police Department charged two people with driving under the influence of alcohol as part of a traffic enforcement campaign.

St. Charles Police conducted additional traffic enforcement Jan. 31 through Feb. 3 as part of a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to keep impaired drivers off the road during Super Bowl weekend. The department charged two people with DUIs on Super Bowl Sunday.

The department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway deaths by issuing citations and arresting impaired drivers. In addition to the two DUIs, St. Charles Police also issued one speeding ticket and one uninsured motorist ticket.

St. Charles Police also wrote one other ticket and issued seven warnings for various offenses.
