• An off-white four-person paddle boat valued at $500 was reported stolen March 5 from property near the Kane County Forest Preserve hiking trail. The owner told deputies the boat would require either two strong men or four not-so-strong men to carry it.
• A resident of the 36W800 block of Red Gate Court, St. Charles Township, reported March 10 that his bank called to say someone tried to charge $10,000 to his credit card, but was unsuccessful. He told police he had received calls from people asking him to verify his information and that his social media accounts may have been hacked. Deputies advised him to change his passwords and monitor his personal information, the report stated.
• Benjamin T. Cook, 18, of the 700 block of Reserve Court, South Elgin, was charged Feb. 21 with possession of 15-200 grams of LSD.
