We are preparing to launch drive-thru service for you soon, and we’re working to ensure we have systems, equipment, and supplies in place that minimize the risks to our community and staff. We’ll post updates at gpld.org as we have more information.
While our physical building is closed to comply with Gov. Pritzker’s Stay at Home order, we’re here to help. Our staff can serve you via email, email@example.com, and phone, 630-232-0780. Please do not return library books and materials until further notice – we’ve extended all due dates and waived all fines until the beginning of July.
Ready for a challenge? Join the library’s Summer Reading Challenge and earn badges for reading, listening, watching, and using library resources. Registration begins June 1 at gpld.readsquared.com.
New library update: We have been unpacking at the new library at 227 S. Seventh St., setting up books, computers, and more. Construction of the playground at Sixth and Franklin streets has begun, and other construction activity continues. We will let you know when we have an opening date. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
While we’re staying safe in our homes, enjoy storytimes, book talks, crafts, and more online through GPLD Connects, which is available 24/7 at gpld.org.
The Librarian Recommends
Librarian Dana Yovanic recommends “Caroline: Little House, Revisited,” by Sarah Miller. “Fans of ‘Little House on the Prairie’ will enjoy reading Ma’s side of the story. Let Miller's superb writing transport you back in time with one of America's most beloved families,” she says.
Paula Krapf is public relations and marketing manager for Geneva Public Library. The “Beyond the Bookshelves” column runs the third Thursday of each month. Feedback can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
