AURORA – An Aurora gas station sold a $1 million Mega Millions ticket during the May 19 drawing.
The winning ticket was purchased at Aurora Shell, 2112 Ogden Ave., in Aurora and matched five numbers to win. The retailer will receive a bonus of $10,000 (one percent of the prize amount) for selling the winning ticket.
The store owner, K. Belani, has been in business with the Illinois Lottery since 1999 and was very excited to hear of this win, according to a news release.
“This is a rough time for everyone, I would like to share the bonus with my staff,” Belani said in the news release. This is the first million dollar win for the station.
More than 30,100 other prizes were won in the May 19 drawing.
