Huntley troupe seeks Virtual Talent Show submissions

HUNTLEY – It’s Showtime Theatre of Huntley, resident theater of the Huntley Park District, announces its 2020 Virtual Talent Show as an opportunity for performers to showcase their talents during the pandemic.

“The coronavirus pandemic and resulting quarantining and social distancing have made the entertainment industry have to reinvent itself,” said It’s Showtime founder Rikki Lee Travolta in a news release. “While it isn’t safe to open up theaters yet, people still want that experience of sitting back and being entertained. It’s Showtime Theatre of Huntley aims to solve that need with our Virtual Talent Show.”

Performers are encouraged to submit video of their particular talents to be broadcast on the It’s Showtime Theatre of Huntley Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ShowtimeHuntley.

“Actors, singers, dancers, solo musicians, bands, comedians, illusionists, puppeteers – whatever your talent is, we want to celebrate it and put you in the spotlight,” Travolta said.

To submit video, performers should email their file to Stephanie Peters at speters@huntleyparks.org or use the Google Drive Drop Box at bit.ly/showtimehuntley. Include the name(s) of those in the video and a description of what they are performing.

“Performers give a little bit of themselves when they put their talent on display. We want to give all of these valiant, talented individuals an audience,” Travolta said.

Submitted videos should be 10 minutes or fewer and do not need to be specific to the talent show.

“If you have a great monologue from two years ago and you think people would enjoy it, feel free to submit it. This is inclusion. This is celebrating you at your best,” Travolta said.

The act of submitting a video serves as permission to post the submitter’s name and video on It’s Showtime Theatre of Huntley’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. Submit now through June 30.
