To the editor:
Everyday I take a break from the stay-at-home order and visit a forest preserve in Kane County. I am so very grateful we have these wonderful places to lift our spirits. Apparently a lot of other people feel the same way as I always see families, dog walkers, runners, walkers, bird watchers, friends, and couples also enjoying the trails and the open spaces. I have not yet had the feeling that it was too crowded or that my space was violated. Everyone is upbeat and friendly.
I want to thank the people of Kane County for preserving these beautiful and diverse places. It was your decision to vote for referendums to purchase and preserve them.
Also thank you to the Kane County Forest Preserve Commission and their staff for taking excellent care of these lands, especially in these times of minimal staff.
I’m so glad I live here.
