It has really been a challenging time for our community and our library as we navigate through this health crisis. We miss seeing our patrons and have come to learn how much our patrons miss us too.
In early June, the St. Charles Public Library started its Holds Pickup Service, where patrons can pick up materials and drop off returns. Our community book drops are now open for all of your material returns. Because we are holding our returned materials under quarantine for three days before checking them in, we are fine free at this time.
With due diligence and safety measures in place, we are happy to announce that we will be re-opening our library with limited services at our temporary location at 305 S. 9th Street in St. Charles. We anticipate opening to limited “Grab and Go” services beginning mid-July.
You will be able to visit the library to checkout your materials, use our computers and other technology services. In order to follow the Restore Illinois Plan, we will adhere to safety protocols, including wearing masks, social distancing and building capacity limits to keep our patrons and staff safe.
At this time, we invite you to schedule your visit with us by phone, email, text or chat. Patrons will be given one-hour appointments to fulfill your library needs. We will be happy to assist and can’t wait to see you!
During this new phase, we will also resume our outreach services to senior facilities, schools and homebound patrons. There may be more changes to come as we are working closely with all of our community partners and following health guidelines. We encourage you to follow us on our social media channels and our website as we have really depended on these tools to communicate all of the changes.
In other news, our library has kicked off a new Podcast series, entitled Inside Voices. Listen to library employees as they highlight what’s new at our library and answer some frequently (or not-so-frequently) asked questions.
Now, more than ever, our library is working to extend our voices beyond the building and share our story. Inside Voices is created with our patrons in mind and our library staff at hand. Enjoy the show and don't hesitate to email firstname.lastname@example.org with your library questions for the show. We might even answer in an episode.
