Geneva city crews hustle to address power outages

Public Works asks public to delay dishwashers, laundry to reduce electric demand

GENEVA  –

As city crews are continuing to respond to reports of outages throughout the community as a result of the afternoon storm, Public Works employees are asking residents’ cooperation to reduce system demands by delaying the use of washing machines and dishwashers until tomorrow, officials announced in a news release.

Outages have been reported on the east side from the Fox River to Glengarry and Route 38 to Division Street. Crews are still working to determine the extent of outages on the west side of Geneva, the release stated.

To report an outage after hours, residents should call the Geneva policenon-emergency number at 630-232-4736. Police will dispatch Public Works personnel to address the problem.

An estimated time for restoration has not been determined. Updates will be posted when more information is made available.
