KANE COUNTY – Illinois public health officials on Sunday reported 62 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.
That is a drop from the 110 new cases reported on Saturday. The total number of cases in the county is now 12,616. The number of COVID-19 deaths in Kane County remains at 325.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen three days of positivity increases and four days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate stayed the same at 5.5%. Currently, 28% of medical/surgical beds and 39% of ICU beds are available.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. The Illinois Department of Public Health will monitor if these indicators show an increase in COVID-19 disease burden with a simultaneous decrease in hospital capacity or if there are three consecutive days greater than or equal to 8% test positivity rate (7 day rolling).
These indicators can be used to determine whether additional community mitigation interventions are needed for a region to control the further spread of COVID-19.
The Illinois Department of Public Health on Sunday reported 1,402 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 14 additional deaths.
The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate remained flat at 3.5%. The state received the results of 48,011 COVID-19 tests – a state record for tests reported in a single day – in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday afternoon.
